Huge bronze doors swing open to reveal the church proper. The Basilica's pews are made of rare African mahogany, and provide seating for more than 1,200 individuals.

Mimicking the design of sports arenas, the shrine's floor and aisle are gradually sloped. It was Father Baker's desire to ensure that worshippers have an unobstructed view of the Basilica's focal point -- the Main Altar.
