One set of more than 80 found throughout the Basilica, the huge bronze doors which open to the Basilica are remarkable in themselves.

At the top of the doors' frame hang one of three unique Items of Papal Significance. For there, hang the Papal Coat of Arms -- two crossed keys crowned by the Papal tiara. Only churches elevated to Basilica status contain the coat of arms, the tintinnabulum, and the canopeum (see Interior Font for more on the latter two).
